Future Ducks

Day 155



For the past few years, there has been a pair of ducks that live in our neighborhood. This makes no sense since the nearest body of water that is not a swimming pool is a couple miles from here. Several times this spring, I've seen this misguided couple in my yard and now we know why. Yesterday an egg was discovered under the small Japanese Maple in the front yard. Today there was another.

Trooper Keeper

Today's keeper is not just another shot of a Star Wars toy. It is also part of my attempt to better learn how to use my flash. On last weekend's camping trip, many failed attempts with the remote flash made me realize I did not know what I was doing, so I resolved to get better. This shot actually has very little post processing. The Trooper is standing on the counter in front of a red bowl, off of which I bounced the flash from the side.

Croc Delight

Though I did not use yesterday's photo here, today is the second day of the Shoe Week of the May PhotoChallenge. That means that the goal for this week is to take a shot of the same pair of shoes all week. As you can see, I chose my son's red crocs, based on the fact that they were around when I was taking the first shot.

Back to the entropy for day 112, courtesy of my tertiary jeans. I lit this shot using a wireless flash in the bottom of the pant leg, which let the light come out through the giant hole in the knee. Don't worry, I was wearing other pants at the time, as far as you know.

Happy (Chinese) New Year! I was going for a firecracker vibe on this one. I'll just be happy for a new week, because I have seen enough red for a while.

This moon hangs on the wall in my laboratory. It is actually a brownish/clayish color, but I used the remote flash through my wonderful blue bottle to give it this look.

Rod Box

This is a replacement rod box for a Bowflex Power Pro. The wild lighting comes via a remote Minolta 5600 HS flash which is hiding behind the box.
