Missing the War

Day 208

Spiraling Up

Back during World War II, many towers were built along the east coast of these United States for keeping a watch on the ocean to make sure that none of those pesky German u-boats were trying to sneak up on us. These silent sentinels are mostly just crumbling towers these days, but some are still intact enough to climb. This shot is looking up from the floor inside a tower at Cape Henlopen State Park.
