Holding On For Spring

Day 60

Holding On For Spring

I was going to boycott today since the name of the blog is Roth365 which does not include leap day, but when I saw Ella playing on the dome climber, I could not resist. The fact that it was below 20 degress F, and I made her go outside in her PJ's and hang on the yellow bar is besides the point.

Ol' Shell Head

Day 59

olShellHead

This is a classic Iron Man from the early days of the character. Is it too early to be getting geared up for the new movie coming out in May, starring Robert Downey Jr. ?

Bound

Day 58

bound

One thing about the Color Theory Challenge is that you really start to notice things of the week's particular color. Take this notebook for example. It's been sitting around in my office forever, but now it suddenly stands out.

Duck Blue

Day 57

duckBlue

Duck Brown went to New Orleans, but never made it out of the bag. This is not in New Orleans, nor is it actually Duck Brown. Even so, it is yellow, and that is just going to have to be good enough.

Spicy

Day 56

spicy

Shelley said this picture was kind of gross, but she should just get her own blog. I need something yellow that communicated "New Orleans", so what better than some Louisiana hot sauce?

Between Us

Day 55

betweenUs

You may not be able to tell from this picture, but the color for the final week of Color Theory Challenge is yellow. I actually took nearly this same shot on Day 54 (which would have been nice for the Green Week), but had accidentally left my ISO on 1600 from Day 53. Even so, that shot wasn't terrible, but since we walked all the way back to Esplanade Ave, this one became the keeper.

Green Bike

Day 54

greenBike

The Week of Green wrapped up in New Orleans, which I must say is such a fantastic place for photography. This was the second of many many pictures I took there on this trip. Two more will make it here for Days 55 and 56, and the rest are making there way up to Zooomr.

Escalator Of Life

Day 53

escalatorOfLife

I'm a bit behind on posting these shots, since we just got back from a trip to New Orleans. This shot is from the slightly less exotic Dulles Airport in Virginia, where we spend 12 hours because of cancelled flights.

Sprouts

Day 52

sprouts

This bulb just doesn't care that it is still winter. It's going to do its thing anyway. You gotta respect that. Side note on the title - I like words that are both nouns and verbs.

Turn Me On

Day 51

turnMeOn

Here at the house of Roth, we go through hose bibs like most people go through potato chips. This green beauty is the third in this location in less than five years. Figured I should capture it before it too needs to be replaced.

Green Power

Day 50

greenPower

I'm finding that it is not so easy being green in February. So I guess you can consider this picture a hybrid between a keeper and a shot that just keeps the streak alive.

Dropped

Day 49

dropped

I wish it were this green outside, but until it is, I'll have to make do with houseplants in the morning sun.

Lizard Leaf

Day 48

lizardLeaf

It's a new week, and I am no longer feeling the Blues. Though the day is gray and wintry, and more of the same expected (I'm looking at you, Groundhog), I going green this week. This shot is the leaf of a rose, which by any other name, would still look reptilian.

Flying Dog

Day 47

flyingDog

Today, on Day 47, I turned 37. We celebrated by visiting the Flying Dog Brewery which gives out all the free beer you can drink during the tour and is only 10 minutes away. It was my turn to drive, but I enjoyed my birthday presents - a new 90mm macro lens and a new camera to go with it.

Boy Blue

Day 46

boyBlue

The Week of Blue continues, and I tried to recapture one of my favorite shots from the Week Of Red. As usual, this subject was less willing and unable to be still for a fraction of a second, but you do what you can.

Age of Aquarius

Day 45

ageOfAquarius

This song is now playing in my head. All due respect to the Fifth Dimension, but make it stop!! Anoyone clever enough to say what the title of this picture has to do with the subject?

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Ice Day

Day 44

iceDay

The kids got the day off today, but there is never a day off for Roth 365.

Monday, February 11, 2008

Blue Down

Day 42

blueDown

I have to admit that I had the idea for this shot yesterday, but saved it for today. That is one downside of trying to a photo a day - it gives you an incentive to stop shooting once you have the keeper for that day.

Sunday, February 10, 2008

Blue Shift

Day 41

blueShift

Out with the old, in with the new. Out with red, in with the blue.

Saturday, February 9, 2008

Human, Torch

Day 40

mag-lite

And so ends the Week of Red. In the on-deck circle, knocking the dirt out of its cleats is Blue. You'll find out why on Day 43.

Friday, February 8, 2008

Top Popper

Day 39

topPopper

Don't know if this counts as a red picture or not, but that was my intention. I was going to call it "Opener" but then realized I already used that title way back on Day 3.

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Bottles of Fire

Day 38

bottlesOfFire

Happy (Chinese) New Year! I was going for a firecracker vibe on this one. I'll just be happy for a new week, because I have seen enough red for a while.

Thanks to Shelley for getting this bottle for me, and drinking all the wine that it contained.

Eye, Ella

Day 37

Eye, Ella

I needed some help today to get an interesting shot with these red scissors. Should it be a warning sign that my kids don't think twice when I ask them to do things like "Put these scissors on your face like a mask."?

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Swat!

Day 36

swat

Continuing the Week O' Red for the photo-challenge and in the midst of heavy software testing and bug finding, this seemed like a good subject.

Monday, February 4, 2008

Right and Might

Day 35

CapsGlove

I had almost zero time to shoot, and the couple things I tried were not working. I needed a hero to save me, so who else would I call but Captain America? This continues the week of red for the February Challenge.

Sunday, February 3, 2008

Quench

Day 34

quench

In honor of the superbowl, here is a bottle of Gatorade. It is red as part of the February Challenge.

Clockville

Day 33

clockville

Don't know if this clock saw its shadow, but if it did, then it will be six more weeks of time keeping.
