You might remember this nest, but a new owner has moved in and is making some changes. This is the first robin of Spring, but it is the first to be featured in Roth365.
While the Olympic torch is making its way around the world, this torch (or flashlight as you Yanks would call it) does not venture farther then my house.
These are two members of my father's barbershop, who I saw perfrom on this day. I don't know who they are, but I wonder if they are related because they have the same chin and the same tie.
Does anyone remember that old song - I think it was by Peter Gabriel? I don't feel like looking it up now, since I am currently lacking in the very thing that the song is about.
This was just one of those days. It was 10:30 and I realized I'd not yet shot anything. A desparate search around my office yielded this bungee cord. It would have to do.
We swung by the Monocacy Aqueduct on our way home from Easter dinner. Despite the equinox, signs of spring were hard to find, but this tree did oblige me.
We were in Baltimore today for the circus, then headed over to Inner Harbor just before sunset. These dragons were docked patiently waiting for warmer to help separate tourists from their money.
We went to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo. It was fun, but disappointing from a photography standpoint. I got many pictures of sad and bored looking animals surrounded by fences and dirt. This duck like thing was at least somewhat free-range.
My plan is to take this same picture on the first day of each season. Not only will I get four pictures out of the deal, it might be interesting to see what changes through the year.
If April showers bring May flowers, what do March showers bring? No, not Pilgrims - March flowers. I got a bit rained on to get this one, but it is all part of the service.
There is something about the intensity of colors when they return after a long winter. Are they really that much brighter, or do they just seem so in comparison to that grayness that came before?
Last fall, my mom made six of these apples to give one to each of her six grandchildren as Christmas presents. Today would have been her 70th birthday. Happy Birthday, Mom.
My brother has a thing for winglets, don't ask me why. As I was flying back from Austin, I realized the sun was setting and I did not have a keeper. When I saw this out the window, I knew what I had to do.
I'm developing a fondness for shooting escalators. These were at the Austin Convention Center, host to SXSW 2008. I generally feel like the guy on the left.
Because of [insert excuse], I did not take very many shots on Day 69, and none that I took were all that good. I seriously considered not posting a shot, but decided instead to post this one, which is the least sucky of the lot. At least it does document what I was doing most of the day.
This was in Austin, TX where I travelled to work at SXSW. When I travel alone, I usually take Duck Brown with me to make it easier to get unique photos. I'm not sure exactly where this was, since I forgot to bring along my geotagger.
I didn't really mean to get a Star Wars thing going here, but it just kind of happened. These Rebel mini-figs were just too darn cool to ignore. And yes, I am playing with my son's toys now, but isn't that the whole reason for having kids?
It is during the time when we are weeks away from the equinox that I most miss North Carolina. But even here in Maryland, there are signs that the wait for spring will soon be over.
This photo is in celebration of the sucessful launch of Zooomr 2008 (didn't have enough rolls of stickers to make the 200). Congrats to Kris and the team.
This is the hydrant that will be tapped should my house ever need extinguishing. In the meantime, I am using it to extinguish the week of yellow, as well as Color Theory February challenge.
