Crazy Steve

Day 179

crazySteve

This guy's name is Steve, and he is crazy. Well, not really crazy. Actually, I don't know him that well, but he seems sane enough. We played his team in backyard volleyball, and since he was cool enough to mug for the shot, he has earned all the glory that comes with being today's photo.

Kinetic

Day 162

kinetic

In between two waves of some nicely powerful thunderstorms, the sky turned the kind of color you only see when the weather is intense. This piece of kinetic art (aka: moves when the wind blows on it) managed to stay intact, which is more than I can say for this wooden rocking chair.

Brown Duck

Day 157

Brown Duck

If you remember all the way back to Day 155, there were two duck eggs under a Japanese Maple tree in our front yard. The next day there were three. This morning, we saw who was responsible. This duck mama was on her way back to the tree to lay egg number 4.

Crazy Jacks

Day 150

Crazy Jacks

In celebration of Day 150 of this odyssey, I set off a really old pack of Crazy Jacks fireworks. Nothing was destroyed, although there was a smoldering patch of grass afterwards. Thanks to everyone who has been following along thus far. I hope to have some good stuff for you in the next 216 days.

Puddle Jumper

Day 111

Puddle Jumper

Puddles are near the top of the list of Things My Kids Can't Walk Past. Other things on the list include carousels, cotton candy vendors, and sliding boards.

Robin Red Nest

Day 91

Robin Red Nest

You might remember this nest, but a new owner has moved in and is making some changes. This is the first robin of Spring, but it is the first to be featured in Roth365.

Torch

Day 90

torch

While the Olympic torch is making its way around the world, this torch (or flashlight as you Yanks would call it) does not venture farther then my house.

Half a Quartet

Day 89

duet

These are two members of my father's barbershop, who I saw perfrom on this day. I don't know who they are, but I wonder if they are related because they have the same chin and the same tie.

Nub Head Speaks

Day 81

Nub Head Speaks

We went to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo. It was fun, but disappointing from a photography standpoint. I got many pictures of sad and bored looking animals surrounded by fences and dirt. This duck like thing was at least somewhat free-range.

Ice Day

Day 44

iceDay

The kids got the day off today, but there is never a day off for Roth 365.

Could this be the site of some burried treasure?

Better Than One

Day 30

betterThanOne

A retired railroad spike reflects on itself. We picked this up years ago from Brunswick, MD, when my son was heavy into trains. It got shiny after we sanded off years of rust.

Not a Moon

Trying to keep the theme alive. I used the blue bottle flash trick again.

Shelter From the Storm

Shelter From the Storm

The first snow of winter is always exciting. This nest sits in the cherry tree in front of our house.

Twister

Feel free to guess what this really is. I'll give you a hint - I'd never seen one before I visited England.

After the Rain Has Fallen

11 January 2008

afterTheRainHasFallen

Cloudy, wet mornings like we had today transform the world into a wonderland of hues and reflections.

Glass Half Full

4 January 2008

glassHalfFull

I realize it is only day 4 and this is my second blue glass shot. Just trying to be optimistic.

Opener

3 January 2008

opener

This is a can-opener that I accidentally brought home with me from a friend's house. I took the shot as part of a Zooomr photo assignment.
