Day 297
This is the other light up Halloween decoration that adorns our house. If not for the holiday, it would sure be weird and disturbing for someone to have what looks to be a stack of child sized human skulls in their front window. As it is, it will only encourage more kids to come visit us. Gotta love Halloween.

Power to the People
Day 293
The second night sleeping in a tent is always better than the first one. Even so, I was up before the sun so decided to try to capture the sunrise over the mountains. Unfortunately, power-lines obscured every good view. Instead of being defeated and frustrated, I decided to embrace the obstacle. Not literally, because that would have been cold, and lets face it, odd even for me.

My Eye On You
Day 292
While we were camping, he headed over to a small aviary that is part of Cunningham Falls/Gambrill State Park. We got there right at feeding time, so we got to see hawks and other birds of prey enjoy some tasty dead mouses. This eagle seemed above it all. Despite being injured and captive, he still managed to look quite regal. Make me glad the Ben Franklin did not get his way when he wanted the turkey named as our national bird.

Flame On
Day 291
I did not learn back in June that on the opening day of a camping trip, by the time everything is setup, it will be too dark to photograph much. Luckily where there is fire, there is also light. And, since it was getting chillier by the moment, it is also good that where there is fire, there is also heat.

Invocation of Profound Emotion
Day 290
This is such a great shot that I'd like to say that I was the one who took it. It was in fact taken by another Roth - Shelley to be precise. She was living the 365-lifestyle and had her camera along with her just in case might see something worth seeing. Every day there must be something.
Lest you worry that my own quest to take a shot every day this year has ended, have no fear. I took a shot this day too. If you click through, you'll see why I used Shelley's here instead.

Ball1
Day 288
Other than an occasional visit to the local minor league ball park, I'm not really a baseball fan. I used to root for the Phillies back when the had big afros and Bake McBride, and even though I hear they are going to World Series, I still probably won't watch. So, why this baseball picture then? Just because I saw it sitting on the counter when I was looking for something to shoot.

The Meeting
Two Sisters
Day 285
After yet another day of soccer and an early dinner in New Market, MD, we headed into Fred City to see what might be worth shooting. This time we went to the other side of Baker Park, where Culler Lake is. It is really more of a pond, but still worthwhile. While the kids alternated between being too tired to walk and running after and chasing ducks, I got this shot.

Box O' Pumpkins
Day 283
I caught these pumpkins at Maple Lawn Farms, during our annual visit to Maize Quest - the Google of corn maze's. You can read about the day over on Duck Brown's Blog.

First Squirrel
Day 281
Where I live now used to be farm land as far as the eye could see. Old Man Peabody owned all of this. That is why, when we moved in five years (has it been that long?) there was exactly one tree on our property. After a great deal of quality time and effort with a shovel, there are now more than 30, and some of are starting to get kind of big.
Mother Nautre has noticed the change, and today, for the first time ever, we saw a squirrel on our property. Points to Charlie who spotted this critter, and eventually chased it away, but not before we all dropped what we were doing to see it, and in my case, also take a few pictures.

Eye of the Duck
Day 280
Duck Brown has a long and interesting history of being featured in photographs, both here, abroad, and in France. This shot was very much the former, as it was taken a few feet from where I now type this at my desk. I'll leave you with this question: What is the difference between a duck and a bulldog?

Sky Frog
Day 278
For lack of anything better, I found myself once again in the backyard in search of the photo of the day. I was tired of the same old same old, so decided to change my perspective and shoot things from the ground up. Besides this frog, I also got a shot of the wind chimes, the oak tree, a pepper plant, Alex, and Ella.

Talk About Sax
Day 276
I've been meaning to revisit this old saxophone since I first shot it for Day 20. Either that, or maybe I am just running out of original ideas. This time I cut most of the external lighting, and shined a flashlight down the body where the neck piece would be. I don't why I did it that way, I just did, OK?

Tangled Web
Day 274
Nothing like a foggy autumn morning to bring out the dew. Shelley was the one who spotted this web and she got a nice shot of it before she told me about it.

Chain Gang
Day 273
The TWiP photo challenge was "Gear" so I took this on-the-nose shot as my entry. I didn't win, but just because no one voted for me. The one slightly clever thing about this shot is that I rested the camera on the pedal to help stabilize it. I tried another shot where I moved the pedal around while taking the shot, but it did not work out.
