Insurance
Photo #76
Being an exterior window cleaner seems like a fun job. By "fun" I mean a job that makes it easy to pretend you are Spider-Man. When I took this picture I was focused (pun intended) on the window washers, not even noticing the golden dome of the "Insurance Company". That makes me think that these guys probably should have good insurance.(Week 11 - Photo 3)

Memories
Photo #73
My random thought about this one is what if building have memories? What would that look like? Maybe this building (1900 M Street - AGAIN!) was thinking back to its very earliest days - back when it was under construction (and way back before it had security guards that harassed photographers). Maybe it would look like this.(Week 10 - Photo 7)

M Street, Remember Me
Photo #72
Do you remember this building. We've seen here on Roth365 at least twice before. It is that same building at 1900 M Street from which the security guard emerged telling me I was not allowed to take pictures. I don't know if that is the reason I keep coming back to it, or if it is because it is cool and reflecty. Probably some of both. It will probably also be the next picture.#PhotographyIsNotaCrime

Dish For You
Photo 71
In a drastic switch from the last picture which was looking below a building, this one is looking above one. Drastic might be too strong a word given that these are both pictures of buildings in DC, the buildings are in sight of each other, and the pictures were taken only a few minutes apart. I really just trying to make yet another building in DC picture seem like not part of the rut I seem to be falling into. I call it a rut because I know there will be many building pictures coming your way in the next few weeks. The title of this photo is a play off of a song title by Bruce & Eugene, so hat tip to them.

What Lies Beneath
Photo #70
Would someone walking by you on the street be able to tell what supports you and holds you up? They would if you were this building on 20th and M in DC and you were still under construction. Who knows what these posts will support in years and decades to come. Maybe important things will happen in this building: ideas, inventions, decisions and break-throughs. The people in the building probably won't stop to think about this support system, but that does not make it any less important.(Week 10 - Photo 4)

My Main Clock Tower
Photo #2
Clocks are cool. The whole idea of splitting time into regular bits and displaying information about the passing of these bits seems metaphorical of something. Clock towers are even cooler. Not only do they make the clocks easier to see, but if you need to harness the power of a bolt of lightning, they make the make the perfect thing from which to string your wire.

Keystone State
Photo #1
Schwab Auditorium is an historic building, and not because it was built in 1902. I'd walked by in countless times during my years at Penn State, but it wasn't until I returned this year that I really saw it. Since the point of this project is to notice things you would otherwise walk right past, I though this was a good inaugural shot for the third wave of Roth365.

C.F. Martin Factory
It is often said that the best things are made in Pennsylvania. When it comes to acoustic guitars, the truth rings out for anyone who cares to listen. This factory in Nazareth, PA is the holy land for strummers and pickers from around the world.
(Note: I said "strummers" and not "Mummers" which are the abominable exception that proves the rule about great stuff coming from PA.)

Outside the Inn
Day 364

This building, the Inn at St. Peters, is the location of my very first job. Many, many years ago, my friend Craig and I were hired to pull weeds in the beds surrounding the patio. We were paid in burgers and french fries. It did not take us long to figure out that if we did not remove the roots, we would have more steady employment.

Tower and the Sky
Day 320

The time had come to go back to the Flying Dog Brewery, to celebrate a race in which I did not run. As hard as it is to believe, they have actually improved the place since the last time we went. The bar area is bigger and fancier, and the beer is still free (though now you have to buy a $5 glass to enjoy the free beer. I'll predict we'll have a quite a collection of these glasses before long.)
Thanks to the Brothers Bernota for organizing the festivities.

Never Stop
Day 319

There is only one good pizza place within a 10 mile radius of my house. Luckily this pizza place is right near the Point of Rocks train station. With the wonderfully byronic weather, I could not resist some long exposure shots. This was my favorite of the set, but I am also fond on this one.

Day 235

The Mrs. and I travelled to DC for a photowalk organized by Trevor Carpenter. We had shot many of the same sites last September, but it was a whole different experience photowalking with over 50 fellow photographers. One thing about a group that size is that it is hard to keep together, especially after dark, so by the time I took this shot, it was just Shelley and me. That was even better.
See all of Shelley's shots starting here and the rest of mine here and the big set of many of the photowalkers here.

Pillar of the City
Day 227

One more shot of New York City. This is the giant post office just outside Penn Station. Thanks to my newly acquired subway savvy, I got to the station with some time before my train home, and I remembered this shot from NYNY.

FDNY Ten House
Day 226

After another day working in NYC office, I walked down to Ground Zero. It is an interesting experience, to say the least. To someone who does not remember what the area looked like 7 years ago, it might seem like just another really large construction project. Of course, there is much more to it than that.
One thing that bothered me was seeing several people posing their children by the fence, telling them to smile, and taking their picture. What are they going to do with these shots? Show them to their friends back home and say "Oh, don't Jimmy and Susie look so cute here on the site of one our nation's biggest tragedies?" Sigh. There were so many people here that make me proud to be an American in the exact way that these people don't.
To focus on those that did us all proud, this is Ten House which is the fire station is directly across from the site. They lost six firefighters on September 11th and the fire station was nearly destroyed. In the weeks following, Ten House was used as a rest and recuperation station as well as a command post for fire department operations at the site.
