Day 121 - Hippofrogomous - 11 Apr 2011

Hippofrogomous

Now we have frogs living in our heron feeder. There are at least three of them, at least two of which can sing very loudly when I have my window open at night. Usually when I approach any of them, the vanish more quickly then my resolution to give up ice cream. This guy however is not shy, and was glad to pose for Roth365.

Day 113 - Over the Water - 3 Apr 2011

Over the Water

In our backyard we have a small heron feeder that just this year has attracted one of these crazy long legged bird like creatures. This may be that heron, but this is not our backyard (unfortunately). This a few miles away at a place with the on-the-nose name of LilyPons. We were there to buy some supplies for our heron feeder. They also sell heron food, but we still have 10 left so did not get any on this trip.

Day 30 - No Stones To Chase Them Away - 10 Jan 2011

No Stones To Chase Them Away

If you believe Sting, then birds on your roof is a symbol of forthcoming death (see liner notes for Lazarus Heart). I hope he was just being ironic, otherwise I would not want to be the guy who lives across the street. Something made every big black ominous bird in the zip code pay a visit to his roof. Just to be safe, I should probably get back those DVD's he borrowed.

Day 29 - Miss You Much - 9 Jan 2011

Miss You Much

You don't have to watch a great deal of U10 (aka 2nd and 3rd grader) basketball to realize that relatively speaking, a shot that comes this close to the the hoop is a good shot. This particular effort was my sixth try photographing free throws, and the only shot that includes both the ball and the rim. Some days you take what you can get.

Down St. Charlies

Down St. Charlies

I've always had a desire to take a good shot of a New Orleans street car. While we were waiting for #933 to take us from where we were to where we were going, I got my chance. Like many things in the South, these old beauties move so slowly that it wasn't even especially foolish of me to stand on the track to take the picture as the car approached. And even if I cut it too close I expect someone would have pushed me out of the way - I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.
