Now you can see what color the background of that flower from yesterday actually looks like. It is white. As in white picket fence. Lets consider the fact that two pictures in a row are of the exact same thing as an exercise in comparison. Lets don't consider it going back to the same well.

I cheated several ways on this picture. First, the flower was dry, well, at least until I sprayed it with a water bottle. Next, the background was not really purpley like that - it was white (as you'll see in Photo #109). It got purple thanks to some goofing around in Lightroom. I'm generally of the "match reality" school of photo processing, but sometimes the final product makes more processing worth it.

Day 137 - This Old Heart Of Mine - 27 Apr 2011

I've never been known as someone who is heavy into floriculture. And you know, what? That's OK with me. I am much more interested in olericulture and pomology (but not viticulture) and whatever the thing is that's about planting trees so that I can't see all my neighbors' houses.

Even so, when I see a nice example of Genus Dicentra, I'm not above taking a picture of it.

This flower grows on the side of the house I usually don't go to unless I am mowing the lawn (and no, wise-guys, I don't mean the outside).

I told you before that once Spring arrived you would start seeing more than a few shots of flowers. Well, here we go. I would tell you what kind of flower this is but:

b) If you care what kind of flower this is, chances are you already know.

Day 74 - Neon Flower - 23 Feb 2011

I think this is first flower shot in the new odyssey. It won't be the last. Once spring arrives there will be many more, believe you me. For now, this is a one-off that came about when I broke my vow and took both kids to Giant together. The flowers were right in the front so they had not yet started to be annoying. So, when Ella suggested we get some flowers for Shelley, I agreed. Twenty really long minutes later she was using the flowers as a weapon to bludgeon her brother. Glad we didn't get roses.
