Can You Dig It

Can You Dig It by Andy Roth on 500px.com

Photo #114

I need to figure out the trick for taking pictures through glass without picking up any reflections. These historic beer cans were in a display case at the local Growlers brewpub, I guess to keep people from touching and/or stealing them. When they decided to do this, I'm sure they gave no thought to how the glass might befuddle a winsome photographer on a 365 quest. I can forgive them though, because they make good beer.

Day 87 - Fat Tuesday Tire Bite - 8 Mar 2011

Fat Tuesday Tire Bite

Though I have only been there a few times, I love New Orleans. The combination of food, music, and culture is like nowhere else on Earth. Don't tell Florida or Arizona, but I hope to retire there someday.

When Fat Tuesday rolled around, I could not be in NOLA, so I went somewhere closer that I hoped would do - WOW Wingery, which despite the name actually has some fair New Orleans fare. In addition to this tasty Flying Dog (which was brewed less than a mile away), I had some decent gumbo and a shrimp po-boy. There were beads and jazz (recorded), so all-in-all it wasn't too bad.

I Saw The Sign

I saw this on my way to take a different picture. I wound up not taking that other picture.

Day 79 - Paperless Society - 28 Feb 2011

Paperless Society

The fine folks at Session Beer saw fit to dual purpose their caps as game pieces for the classic strategy game of Rock Paper Scissors. Five/sixths of the way through a twelve pack however, I've yet to acquire any Paper. Is this just some statistical possibility, or is some clever scheme my some wily folks in the Cap Dept to get me to buy more of their delicious beer? One way to find out.

Day 52 - Black & Tan - 1 Feb 2010

Black & Tan

The correct blending of dark & light is a key component in compelling photography. For example, the first pint I tried this with was on the stark white kitchen counter and it did not at all match the idea of the picture in my head. Luckily I took the second pint down to the Duck & Turtle where the warm tones of the wormwood blended nicely with the shadows in the room to get this shot.

Once I knew I had the shot, I drank the subject to celebrate.

A new month, and a new challenge from Trevor at photochallenge.org The May Challenge is to shoot a new object every week. For the first week, the object is: A Beverage. My beverage of choice (for the challenge and for life in general) is: Beer. Today's shot is looking down on a bottle of Lucky Kat from the fine folks at Magic Hat.
