In Too Deep

Photo #54

You cannot have good without also having evil. It is a two sides of a the same coin situation. Han Solo and the rest of the Rebel Alliance would have no reason to be on Hoth if they weren't trying to hide from the Empire. Luckily for the latter, they had special Storm Troopers equipped with thermal underwear and cool helmets designed for just such a wintry locale. What these Snow Troopers lacked however, were snow shoes. You'd have to think with the extra weight of all that ineffective armor, they would occasionally sink into the snow.

I wonder why they didn't call them Snow Storm Troopers

Day 73 - Good Wall - 22 Feb 2011

Good Wall

I've had this picture in my head since this odyssey began, and on this morning the conditions were just right to capture it. Ideally I would have taken the shot a half hour earlier, but instead I shoveled the driveway first. Even so, it was close enough to the magic hour that it worked out OK.

Day 47 - After the Snow Has Fallen - 27 Jan 2011

After the Snow Has Fallen

This is what I wish this thing would look like on the first day of winter, but it never does. Just because I take a shot of this on the first day of each season, does not mean I can't shoot it other days, too.

Nice bonus of the snow is that you can't see me.

Day 46 - Faces in the Snow - 26 Jan 2011

Faces in the Snow

This has been a mean winter thus far. One cold day after another without the usual break of Springlike weather in between. And to top it off, no decent snows. That is, not until this day. Finally we got a snowman-making, sled worthy, snowball-fight-enabling, find-your-sled kind of snow. Before I grabbed my shovel, I grabbed my camera and took this shot.

Day 31 - Frozen Dragonfly - 11 Jan 2011

Frozen Dragonfly

It is too bad I wasn't doing Roth365 last winter because we got several really good snows that would have made for some nice pictures. This winter's meager snows don't even compare. Last winter this dragonfly yard art thing would have been completely buried. I could not even have taken this picture then. Also, we didn't have this last year. This is besides the point. The point is, I don't know. Something about snow.
