Gotham

Photo #93

They say that Metropolis is New York City during the day and Gotham City is New York at night. I don't know what it is at sunset, other than a bad time to take pictures from the Top of the Rock, especially if there are annoying French people setting up camp in the prime spots and not giving any respect for the unwritten laws of human interaction on which society depends.

Day 128 - Little Wing - 18 Apr 2011

Little Wing

Solar lights are cool. Like fireflies and all glow in the dark stuff, they are magic to me. Maybe that is why we are starting to accumulate a collection of solar lights around the heron feeder. I started out trying to take a picture of the waterfall (which you can see in the picture if you use your imagination) then this bird caught my eye.

Day 46 - Faces in the Snow - 26 Jan 2011

Faces in the Snow

This has been a mean winter thus far. One cold day after another without the usual break of Springlike weather in between. And to top it off, no decent snows. That is, not until this day. Finally we got a snowman-making, sled worthy, snowball-fight-enabling, find-your-sled kind of snow. Before I grabbed my shovel, I grabbed my camera and took this shot.

Big Willy Style

Big Willy Style

This taken a good while after sunset. That is the nice thing about using a tripod and a long exposure - it can capture enough light to make night look like day, and also smooth out the choppy water.. Of course I could have just taken the shot during the day when it was not windy and may not have looked all that different. What's the fun in that?

Night Falls on Toronto

Night Falls on Toronto

It was worth the lugging and the odd looks to take my tripod to the top of the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario to take some long exposure shots as the sun went down. The tripod did not help with tourists and the reflections and smudges on the glass. Those took some creative MacGuyverism and patience to overcome.

Northern Crosses

Northern Crosses

Think about how many times
I have fallen
Spirits are using me
larger voices callin'.
What heaven brought you and me
Cannot be forgotten.
